Journey to Strathmore House In the Heart of the Valley |
Strathmore House is located in the Central Shenandoah Valley. Strathmore is close to many civil war battle fields, the historic towns of Mount Jackson and New Market as well as Sky Line Drive. Driving distances to common points of origin and interest are as follows:
Mount Jackson, VA 2 Miles
New Market, VA 5 Miles
James Madison University, Harrisonburg, VA 25 Miles
Fairfax, VA 90 Miles
Washington, DC 115 Miles
Lynchburg, VA 125 Miles

Driving Directions:
From the Washington area proceed west on Route 66 to
Route 81
Turn south on I-81 approximately 25 miles to Exit 269 (Shenandoah Caverns)
Exit left toward Route 11
On Route 11 turn left (north) and proceed approximately ¼ mile to first left (note small brown covered bridge sign) which is Wissler Road, also Route 720.
Cross over Meems Bottom Covered Bridge to the first driveway on your right.
You will see our sign "STRATHMORE HOUSE"
Guests from other areas: Proceed to Route 81, which runs North/South through the Shenandoah Valley and follow above directions.
NOTE: If you get lost - call Strathmore or ask any local
person for directions to the Covered Bridge- Strathmore House is a few
hundred feet west of the bridge.
